The project supports Mongolia’s efforts to broaden and deepen financial markets through strengthening the enabling legal and regulatory environment for business and finance; improving corporate governance; and facilitating transactions to improve the competitive environment of selected markets.

Recent Activities
Mongolian Corporate Governance Center : The project worked on development of a concept paper and business plan for a Mongolian Corporate Governance Development Center (MCGDC). Once registered as a Mongolian NGO and fully organized, the MCGDC will be an independent, membership-based center of excellence for corporate governance training, research, advocacy and consulting in Mongolia. The concept and business plan will be presented to potential stakeholders at the second Mongolia Corporate Governance Forum to be held during spring 2009. EPRC and the International Finance Corporation are exploring cooperating to leverage the resources of USAID and IFC to accelerate realization of the potential of MCGDC.

Credit Information Bureau: The project continued to support the organization and development of the CIB. EPRC's long-term international Financial Markets Advisor serves on the board of directors, ex officio. EPRC is working with the IFC, the Mongolian Bankers Association and the CIB to prepare a one-day workshop to be held in spring 2009 for stakeholders, parliamentarians and the media to introduce the private CIB and to elicit support for revisions to the legal framework.
