A focus of the seminar series is learning through shared experiences and identifying common successes and challenges. Through facilitated discussions, EPRC staff identified the primary interests of participants, including non-judiciary processes of resolving conflict, and mechanisms for dealing with grievances and avoiding complaints, grievances, and conflicts. Participants actively engaged with the trainers throughout the seminar through role-playing activities, in which the attendees acted as real citizens, company representatives, civil society organization leaders, government officials, and other main stakeholders in order to understand issues from different viewpoints.
In addition to the civil servants, eight candidates in training to become certified local trainers of the Mineral, Metals, and Mine Life Cycle module series participated in the two seminars. The project selected these candidates in cooperation with MP Ts. Bayarsaikhan from South Gobi, and invited them to Ulaanbaatar for a four-day initial training held on 15-18 June, prior to the workshops.
Government participants and the Local Trainer candidates participated actively in the seminars, adding to the discussions and building on the training content.
